The Nicholson Pipes and Drums is Orange County's own Scottish bagpipe band. Based in Westminster, California, this all-volunteer nonprofit musical organization has earned a reputation for excellence, in both performance and demeanor, at Scottish festivals and special events locally and abroad.

Based in Westminster, California, this all-volunteer, nonprofit musical organization has earned a reputation for excellence – in both performance and demeanor – at Scottish festivals and special events locally and abroad for over 40 years. The band also has the distinction of winning numerous awards at parades and pipe band competitions internationally
We can tailor any event offering our musicians in configurations to a single piper, duo (PIPER & DRUMMER most popular small config.), trio, mini band, or full band. In addition to our musical performance we can enhance our performance and package Scottish Highland and or Irish Stepdancers for your event as well. We perform at wide and diverse range of events, including personal parties, birthdays, weddings, funerals, memorial services, golf tournaments, conventions, and community events. We also have special rates for Law Enforcement and Military events. Finally, the band is also available for TV and MOVIE productions.
Nicholson Pipes and Drums was founded by Pipe Major Kathleen Nicholson Graham in 1981. The band was named in honor of her father, Pipe Major Malcolm Nicholson, by her bagpipe students who wanted to carry on his legacy. From 1937 through the early 1970s, Pipe Major Malcolm Nicholson founded many championship pipe bands in Vancouver B.C., Canada. In 1978 he was awarded the highest civilian award,“CANADA MEDAL” by the Prime Minister of Canada. Nicholson Pipes and Drums is the official pipe band of the Clan Nicholson (MacNicol), and proudly wear the red MacNicol tartan. The band is been under the direction of Pipe Major Darrell Calvillo and Drum Sergeant Malcolm Willis (Son of P.M. Graham).
The band consists of 15 pipers and 10 drummers performing the traditional music of Scotland and Ireland while wearing the full traditional kilt of the Nicholson Clan.
